BIOGRAPHY
(A.B., A.M., Occidental College;
Th.B., Princeton Theological Seminary; A.M. (Semitic Philology),
Princeton University; Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania) is Chancellor
and Professor of Old Testament at Biblical Theological Seminary. In
addition to his degrees, Dr MacRae's educational background involved
the study of ancient languages related to the Bible (Babylonian
Cuneiform, Egyptian Hieroglyphics, Arabic and Syriac) at
the University of Berlin; training under W. F. Albright at the American
Schools of Oriental Research in Jerusalem, jointly discovering with
Prof. Albright and two others the site of the biblical city of Ham (Gen
14); and research at the Oriental Institute of the University of
Chicago. Besides an extensive preaching, lecturing and writing
career, Dr MacRae has taught at Westminster Theological Seminary
(1929-37), Faith Theological Seminary (1937-71), and Biblical
Theological Seminary (1971-1990).

A volume of essays written and
presented to Dr. Allan A. MacRae by his former pupils on the occasion
of his eighty-fourth birthday. The book concerns vital issues affecting
the interpretation of the Bible and the understanding of certain
